Relationship with someone twice my age.

To tweak slightly what James is saying, I am concerned about the balance of power in the relationship. Healthy relationships involve an equal balance of power. This is much, much less likely when there is a gap in age, maturity, experience, developmental task, income, relationship with one’s own parents, etc., etc…

And, there are health issues at stake too. For example, most men in either of these age groups have had the Hepatitis A vaccine, and men who have sex with men should definitely have this. The older gentleman may not have had the Hepatitis B vaccine either (and if the younger one has been immunized, the immunity is not 100%). Hepatitis C and HIV have no available vaccines, of course. There are some who recommend the HPV vaccine and anal PAP smears for men who have sex with men. Condoms do not protect against herpes simplex and some HPV. Just saying!
Of course, Hepatitis B, C, HIV, and HPV are also spread heterosexually. We should all be confronting these issues with our peers or kids in college.
