High School Dating and the Age Gap Dilemna

So, how far down is too low, and how far up is too high? For a guy? What about a girl?

This has come up a few times at school, and I thought it would be interesting to get some CC input.

In my opinion, me being a guy, dating up one year is fine, and dating down up to three years is alright.

Up 1 - Ok
Same Age - Ok
Down 1 - Ok
Down 2 - Stretching it
Down - Lower limit

so watchall think?

I possess double-X chromosomes.
older guys are nice unless they're over 3 years older.
i'm not partial to younger guys.
and those of my same age are fine.

A girl dating a younger guy is weird.
A guy dating a girl 3+ years younger is using her.
A guy one year older or 2 years older is okay.

I'm actually very old fashioned. I think girls should only date older guys, and guys younger girls. Age gap should be 3 years both ways :) that's just me, though.

I am currently a senior in high school and am dating a junior who attends PENN. We have been dating since I was a junior and he was sophomore. We have a great relationship despite the fact that I live in NYC and he resides in PA. Because we are mature, we have been able to have a sucessful relationship. We talk to each other everyday and see each other about every other week, so it's really not that bad. It's all about trust, he and I have the same values, so it works.

The big trend in my school is senior girls dating junior guys.

Also, there have been quite a few senior girls dating sophomore guys, which is, in my opinion, kind of crossing the line of weird, but whatever floats their boats.

I don't like to see something like senior guys dating frosh, or worse, middle schoolers. creeeepy.

Imo, anything more than 2 yrs age difference isn't really "acceptable." However, basically any HSer dating a JHSer is weird to me (unless it's a freshman), and seniors dating freshmen is bizarre too.

okay i'm a senior girl who likes a sophomore guy. my friends all think it's weird...WHY. i hate the sexist thing...i would' ve shared their views a couple of years ago, but now that i'm in the position...yeah.

Yeah, I know plenty of girls who are dating or have dated younger guys. What's the problem?

Well, IDK about you but for me anyone who possesses at least one X chromosome is unworthy of partiality.

lol, at my school it's junior girls and freshmen guys
-_-

I'm dating a girl up 2. It's a problem after graduation. I think
Guys: -2 to +2 is okay.
Girls: -1 to +2 is okay.

that's just my opinion =P. it gets weird.

Same age or up to 4 years older is fine for me. No younger guys, or even guys my age who are immature. (BTW I'm a chicky)

For me I would date 2, possibly 3 years up, but only one year down. I really prefer people my own age or in my grade.
So overall we seem to have fairly consistent limits.

y7bbb6, I'm curious as to what you are planning to do. ;)

at my school the trend is senior girls with freshman guys...to me its weird and they go overboard..like half the freshmans date seniors

What about hook-ups? Is there an age range?

fresh + senior = robbing the cradle

I agree with ^ ... plus or minus two years is fine. But freshman/senior relationships just scream that the senior isn't getting any action with people their own age, so they went for the easier target.

(before I get flamed, yes there are exceptions).

My junior year in high school has taught me that freshman girls are no good! Already went through two and they were disastrous! Only dating girls who are my age or older from now on!
