They have an area on the application where you can indicate if anyone at all in your family attended Wellesley.

My cousin did, so I was just wondering if that actually had any importance like the whole parents/grandparents/sibling "legacy" thing, or if they're just curious to know?

Just wondering. =)

I don't know what role the legacy issue plays. It doesn't hurt your chances if you aren't related to any alumnae, and I would assume that it wouldn't hurt to be in such a position, either. Whether or not it helps ... no clue.

Yeah I was just wondering because cousins do not even count as legacy, so I was wondering if it was pretty much useless to put it down (even though I'm still putting it down of course)

I'm not sure...but I have a great-aunt who went and I put her!
If anything, and especially if Wellesley is clearly a safety, (;)) the fact that you have even some alumnae connection may make them think that there's a good chance you'll matriculate there, since you are "connected" to the school. Though I'm not sure to what extent the "Tufts syndrome" affects Wellesley, having an alumnae connection may avoid your being wait-listed.

No one in my family went to Wellesley. I know a bunch of students whose grandmas went here. But then my roommate is a 5th gen Wellesley student.

btlesgirl-- haha yeah, that's what I was thinking.
It obviously couldn't hurt.
It's a shame that other relatives don't count as legacy though =P

My little sister applied to Wellesley, put me as her legacy, and got wait-listed. Just to put this out there.
