Hey,are any of you guys going to be participating in Relay this year? It's really big at my school, and a lot of people get involved.

haha. the night I arrived at upenn, my friend dragged me to walk around the track with her. it was...interesting, I guess, except they never seemed to have brought out the free food...

but we can't forget -- Cancer never sleeps.

i am! my school's NHS does it every year

what is it?

This is from the website..

"Relay For Life is a fun-filled overnight event designed to celebrate survivorship and raise money for research and programs of your American Cancer Society. During the event, teams of people gather at schools, fairgrounds, or parks and take turns walking or running laps. Each team tries to keep at least one team member on the track at all times."

Before all of this, you form a team, and each person tries to raise $100 to help find a cure for cancer. Then when you're doing the overnight, you're supposed to stay awake all night and someone from your team is supposed to be walking the track at all times. It's really fun, and lots of people participate, and it really brings our school together.

I'm doing it, too! Still have to raise money ahck >.>

Yeah, I really need to start raising money too!

My daughter is doing it. She will be running the Survivor's tent as part of her Silver Award for Girl Scouts. She has done it for six years, and always has a blast. It's a great cause!

I'm on my school's Political Awareness Club's team. I'll probably be a Captain next year.

I did it last semester. It was a great experience because not only are you helping, but you are also having fun with your friends.

You are SUPPOSSED to have someone from your team walking at all times, and that's why every team has shifts for their walkers. But really, nobody is checking who is out there from every team; it is not like, "Team 3 doesn't have walker so they are out."

That was first time participating in such event. The whole community was very involved. Everyone seemed to be doing their best to raise as much money as they could.
