My DS was just admitted to NYU Tisch Early Decision–and we are thrilled! Naturally, he must withdraw all other applications. His only other audition school was Carnegie Mellon. He has a prime audition spot scheduled in New York at the Ripley Grier Studios on January 29, 2010 at 12:00. I wanted to give you folks a heads up–since I understand CMU auditions are hard to come by now–that we will be releasing this audition time today. You never know–you might be able to capture it. Timing is everything. Good Luck!

You are so considerate. I wonder if a CC person was able to snap it up?

I emailed CMU to let them know my DS was off the market due to his ED acceptance to NYU Tisch. I expected a polite response, at best. I got a very friendly congratulations instead–and most surprisingly to me–an offer of a refund for our $80 audition fee. Way To Go, CMU! All I can say is, CMU is First Class! Had my son been denied NYU–which for a variety of reasons, was his first choice, primarily because he has an agent in NYC, was born and raised there until the age of 8 and so wanted to move back there–Carnegie Mellon would have been his best opportunity.

So, I do hope his audition time dropped back into the pool and a new and marvelous candidate gets a shot. This is what it’s all about. Best Wishes!

Bvillelady, congratulations on your son’s acceptance at NYU! That is very impressive. My daughter has a prescreening CD in at Steinhardt, so now we just have to wait and see if she gets an audition there.

Thanks also for posting this - very kind! As it happens, by coincidence I checked CMU’s site again today (hadn’t looked in a week or so) and found an opening in NY (actually on the 30th) and one in Pittsburgh. I called my daughter, told her to register NOW yet in the 10 or so intervening minutes the NY slot had closed! We were able to sign up for the Pittsburgh time, however, so now she can at least take her 1-in-25 or so shot at admission.
