I was wondering whether colleges look at and calculate in my overall gpa my religion classes which are unweighted. I know that almost all of these classes don’t transfer on the uc system but I don’t know about other colleges and how they view them. Thanks
It will depend on the school. Some will just take the GPA provided by your HS. You would need to check with each.
High school to college or is this a transfer question?
Right, not all colleges recalculate gpa. At holistic colleges, they note the gpa, then look at the transcript.
This is for high school.
I think the answer is “it depends.”
I would imagine that public and private colleges would be less likely to count religion classes than, say, a Catholic or Methodist school.
Your religion class average does get calculated in with your overall average and that’s the average the colleges look at.
Any major college or university will be experienced with this issue, and will recognize required religion classes as part of your transcript. I think they might fall within the elective or humanities component of the UC application. If it reassures you at all, my son got into UCSD and Davis from out-of-state with required religion classes on his transcript. The school profile will always indicate that your school is religious-affiliated. If your grade is good, it will be calculated as part of your overall GPA.
