Rems

Rochester Early Medical Scholars Program

I checked this box when i was applying for UR not knowing what it was. They only pick 10 students each year for the program. I'm pretty sure i'm not gonna get into the program. Do i still have to complete the REMS aplication? They sent me an email saying they were missing the REMS supplement application. What happens if i dont send in the supplement?

Call your admissions counselor and indicate that this was a mistake. Ask him/her what you should do to put your application into the regular, non-REMS path. You can find your counselor here:
[University of Rochester : Staff Directory](http://enrollment.rochester.edu/admissions/staff.shtm)

is anyone else applying for this? and when are we supposed to hear about interviews./ if they are considering us?

My D is also applying for REM, and I remembered she told me that they will pick “finalists” by around February 15. If they pick you, they will call you for an interview.

okay, thank you!

I still haven’t sent in my application, or told them about it. Is it an automatic rejection if you don’t sent the REM application if you checked the box?

No, it is not an automatic rejection by any means. I am currently a freshman, and I thought I was going to apply to REMS. I checked the box, yet I decided not to apply. I did not send in any REMS information, and I still got in ED. If you feel it is an issue, I would encourage you to call the admissions and let them know. They are very nice and would be happy to help you. It shouldn’t really matter at all. Your decision will not depend on it. :)

UR should be sending the letters out now. I got mine regarding interviews today.

^ My D got her letter on 2/3/10, too. Finalist will be interviewed at UR on the weekend of 2/25-2/27.

It sounds like the issue has been resolved, but for what its worth… checking the box and not applying to the REMS program will certainly not increase the likelihood of being denied admission. Some students have the intent to apply to a combined admission program, and for one reason or another change their mind - it is very common. I hope this puts your mind at ease!
