So I recieved an unpaid internship offer today at an boutique private equity advisory firm in Chicago that also does a little M&A.

It is still relatively early in the job offering season for internships, and I was wondering what would happen if I were to renege on it for a paid position somewhere else?

The firm itself looks nice (I would like to work for a small firm over bulge bracket, and am solely focusing my job search in the Chicagoland area), but it has it's flaws. I found the position on craigslist and a requirement was having your own personal laptop to bring to work everyday (is this normal for boutiques?). One review on the internet said the internship positions there are aweful and you don't learn anything (although there was one that said it was fine and people recieved a lot of good offers coming out of it, and another who said he/she learned a lot and it was amazing).

What are your thoughts on the situation?
