Rensselaer ED I 2016

Hi RPI forums,
Decisions for ED I are coming out in a few days, and just wanted to see if anyone in CC is just as nervous / excited as I am.

Some background info:
I found RPI when I was a sophomore and decided junior year to apply Early Decision. I would like to major in Electronic Media Arts, and Communication. I'm also a RPI Medalist and applied using the Candidate's Choice App. Also, I'm female (which I will mention on this forum since it does factor into admissions).

Hopefully results will be posted exactly on 7PM EST on the 10th.

Good luck, CandiceCan!!

My S is a junior at RPI and really likes the school. RPI is a really good match for him.

I hope you get in and it works out as well for you as it has for him.

I’m extremely nervous! I applied with the candidates choice app as well and am a rensselaer medalist. I keep looking up stats and trying to find my chances and become nervous. I was extremely confident before but seeing other people denied and their scores, I just keep doubting myself haha I will be checking the site at exactly 7, good luck to you :)

Good luck guys!

My husband attended the school for one year. We hated the dorms when we visited, but were very impressed with other aspects of the campus. The head of disabilities was knowledgeable and personable. My daughter is a recently diagnosed high functioning Aspie, and they were completely familiar with the condition and offered full support, so I was okay with that. After visiting Carnegie Mellon, my daughter told me she wanted to apply to RPI ED. We arranged an overnight and I don’t remember the last time I saw my daughter smile so broadly. She has issues meeting deadlines. No problem with this application! She liked Haverford and Union, too, but RPI was her first love, yucky dorms notwithstanding.

I encourage anyone here with questions about RPI to send me a message. I’m currently just finishing my Fall semester of Junior year and I am a BME student pursuing a medical track. Just a fair disclosure, the mood of my response will probably be reliant on how finals are going for the day.

Since I started the thread, I just wanted to give a little update.

I was admitted on the 10th as an ED I candidate. My stats are as follow:
SAT: 640 W 670 M 690 R (2000 Superscored)
GPA: 3.8 UW 4.12 W
EC: President of Science National Honor Society, Vice President of National Honor Society, Lead Photographer for school newspaper, part time work at Best Buy Mobile, Piano for 10 years, Violin for 6 years. Miscellaneous music groups and orchestras.
State: Asian female from NJ

I received 15K merit from my Rensselaer Medal.

I guess that’s pretty much it. I was really tense before 7pm on Saturday, but the admission letter really made my year. Loved the music that played in the background, and I was just overjoyed. I’m really looking forward attending in the fall. Hope to see you guys there too!

I was also accepted
SAT CR: 630 M: 710 W: 590 ACT: 29
I was soooo excited when I found out

Congrats, CandiceCan and tymurt!!!

It’s a great school.

One word of advice - take advantage of Johua’s offer. He has been very helpful on this forum and has a great deal of expertise for dorm selection (Barton?), etc.

Congrats to those admitted. And hint - dorm assignments are given in order of your deposit receipt. Even though you don’t pick out dorm preferences till later, it behooves you to get your deposit in sooner vs later.
