***Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute RD Discussion Thread***

Just got my conditional acceptance letter in the mail today. In the envelope was a view book and a single sheet of paper.

It said that I was offered a conditional acceptance. My acceptance will be formal once I take a high school level physics course, earning a B or better.

@ jabrown
If you’re not enrolled in a h.s. physics course now (senior year) when will you take it? Or can you take an equivalent online course?

I was a little confused at that as well. I guess summer school is a possibility, as is an online course. Or possibly self studying for one of the AP Physics.

I’m not even going to hassle with it though. I had only applied to RPI in case I decided to pursue engineering come decision time. Well decision time is approaching, and I am still against engineering.

Reflection:waiting for scholarship info, don’t think I will qualify for any need based aid :(

Accepted but may not be going coz it’s too expensive. I am an international student so no financial aid:(

I received notification of my acceptance the other day, but I have yet to receive financial aid info. However, I only just submitted my CSS Profile and I recently received an email from RPI asking me to submit it ASAP. Now I’m just waiting to see what aid I get and I’m hoping I didn’t hurt myself by submitting the profile later than maybe I should have.

Hi Cal1231,

DS also got into GSAS. We will be attending admitted students day on Saturday and wanted to hear if you know anything about the dynamics within the department. I keep hearing about a boot camp atmosphere in engineering. Do you know if it is the same in GSAS? Thx

Hi MQD,
My son got accepted to CS … But after attending accepted students day, just requested a change to GSAS and was accepted into that program. They say its easier to have a double major into CS vs the other way around because many classes full up with GSAS majors. The only thing he does not already have s lot of programming background because of our small high school with limited course availability.

Hi catrin17 and MQD
My son also accepted into GSAS, and we attended accepted students day. Excellent presentation - the profs worked so well together, and seemd very excited about their concentrations and the developing program (the first majors graduate in May), their research projects, their recent prizes and trips with student teams. Just a great vibe from them. RPI offers so much flexibility in programs and dual majors, minors etc. It seems you can combine just about anything. The students in the next room who talked about the major did not say boot camp - it seemed like they were having a blast - hard work but energizing.
