Just saw Rent at Temple University last night. What an amazing show! I was interested in seeing how strong the vocals were as the MT program is very new. My D was so impressed…D thought Temple’s show was as good (if not better in some things) than the Broadway version she saw a few years ago. The vocals were very, very strong and the acting spot on. My D got a good vibe from Temple and is now even more certain she made the right choice with this program. It was so worth the 6 hour round trip!!!

I’m seeing it this week…the boy playing Roger has done theatre with my D for years and he is a mega talent, isn’t he? Though the MT program is new, Temple has had great dance, drama, and voice programs for years.

I believe that he is a vocal performance major, not in the music theatre program. He did an NYU VP summer program with my D a few years ago and is very talented!

Skwidjymom- Which Roger?
The role is double cast… I know one is a VP major but the other is MT. I saw the MT major. I’m sure both are amazing. I really was impressed by the guy who played Mark! It’s my understanding that he’s a freshman! My daughter is so excited to get there in the fall…she’s visiting again next month. I have a feeling I’ll be making numerous of trips down to Philly over the next few months…and years!!!

Yes there are two Roger’s - one MT, one VP. Also, the guy who plays Mark IS a freshman. He did a LOT of professional work before he came to Temple at the Walnut Street Theater and other big theaters in Philadelphia. He’s ridiculously talented :)

Oops, I meant the boy playing Mark. I just love that kid.

Went to see one of my bestfriends in RENT last night…thought the show was really great! Awesome production values, too!
Then I watched a dance rehearsal today for a musical theatre/ dance showcase they’re doing and that was really great as well.
I go to school in NYC but love my trips to Philly, such a great city and IMHO so much more laidback and welcoming than NYC.
