REP 6th COLLEGE TRITONS!

Whatup!? I got into 6th for management economics, who else got in and under what major?!

My D for mathematics/economics major. Was sixth your first choice? The tour guide who showed us the campus compared life at sixth to living at summer camp all year. She also said it was quite removed from the rest of campus. I think my D will go to UCD.

I'm in for economics

i got in for physics major

10 char

Got in for a CS major... attending depends on whether my UCLA appeal works or not.

Bioengineering baby! wooo hoooo

Does anyone know anything else about this college? There isn't much useful info on the ucsd website.

Sixth College is the smallest college. Only 8% of the undergraduates are in Sixth.

Why is no one on this site going to sixth? Is it really bad? I don't get it.

well sixth college is still pretty new, so statistically it has a smaller percentage of the class.

http://studentresearch.ucsd.edu/sriweb/enroll/ugcoll.pdf

got in for biochem/chem =)

I'm with Caro, does anyone know anymore about the colleges... or rather the differences between all of them.

I got into sixth undecided-social sciences.

I really want to know more about the college too! I've been scouring the web (and these message boards!) but I haven't found out much. :/

Interesting about the only 8% of undergrads going to 6th.

So sixth is the newest and smallest of the colleges, and it seems to be searching for an identity. How many of you wrote about significant leadership roles, esp. in the context of your school? For example, my D and her good friend (both admitted into sixth) were very involved in student government. I found this link:
http://sixth.ucsd.edu/index.php@option=com_content&task=view&id=958&Itemid=43.html
I think perhaps leaders were chosen (at least a few) in the hopes that they would bring a sense of unity to the students in sixth. Just curious to hear about all of you amazing students :)

This is an excellent blog to find out about activities in the different sixth college buildings:
http://sixth.ucsd.edu/index.php@option=com_weblinks&catid=78&Itemid=69.html
click on the name of the RA for the building and see what is going on there.

Some basics on what your room is like:
http://sixth.ucsd.edu/index.php@option=com_content&task=view&id=1206&Itemid=39.html

And just a little more general info.
http://sixth.ucsd.edu/index.php@option=com_content&task=view&id=1204&Itemid=39.html
Hope some of this helps.

Interesting about the leadership thing too!

I'm the Orange County leader of Cal-Nev-Ha KIWIN'S of Key Club International (community service organization) and my main essay was all about my experience of being a leader through that organization (i used to be a super-shy kid, I wasn't exactly born a leader) and I've acted as leaders for various other extracurriculars (marching band, sophomore class commission, etc.) too, but KIWIN'S is my biggest one.

i got in undeclared but i didn't have anything about leadership on my application.. wow only 8% of undergrads are in 6th.. bummer and i didnt know that 6th college's theme is culture, art, and technology eek on the college apps i put the UCSD colleges in a pretty random order lol oh the horrror :X

I chose 6th because there are very few required english classes

I got in as a Psychology major.

Don't know a whole lot about 6th, but I'd agree with the leadership idea. I tried my best to highlight that on my app, and it seemed to work.

So I take it that 6th is a more sci college and not so much english. Does anyone know about history? (that was my alternate choice)
