Repairing the grade

I was hoping to apply to a great public university (eg Berkley, etc.) and my qualifications are not so bad (pretty good EC's and SAT's 760's). However, I was absent a lot during my first period of my last session (current junior, and it was due to health reasons). As a result I received a D+ (the class was honors algebra 2/trig on block scheduling, so they went too fast for me to make up the tests I missed). All of my other classes I received all A's and only 3 B+'s (PE...ugh) my whole high school career to this point (all core classes were AP and honors). I took Trig at the community college and received an A to make up my algebra 2/trig grade.

My question is: Does this D+ lower my chances for admission? Or does making it up at the college and receiving an A only lower my chances a little since it was an honors class?

Thanks!

Don't worry. Colleges will see the D+ but as long as you tell them about your circumstances in the additional info spot on the application you should be fine. Two D's won't kill you if you have a good reason to back it up. Just make sure you do get the point across though when the time comes.

^ in addition to that, make sure to get the credit for that class.

Make it VERY CLEAR that you made up the class in CC, don't assume that they figure it out by themselves.
