I was just curious if it helped your chances of getting accepted into prep school if you applied to repeat a year. There seems to be many people who apply for the grade they are entering and also the same amount of people applying as repeats. I just wanted to know why you chose to repeat if you did.

I am going to apply for grade ten 2012-2013. I will be going into grade 9 this fall, so I won’t be doing a repeat.
I thought about doing a repeat grade, but my family wouldn’t be able to afford four years of prep school. They won’t even be able to afford one year without some pretty high amounts of aide.
Also, though I understand that starting as a repeat freshman would give me a slight advantage acdamicaly, but I think that I could manage it.
I dont think that it would give you any advantage in the admissions process.

Good luck.

people say that it gives you an edge because

you get to experience the full BS experience!

schools take the largest number of students in 9th grade. so as the numbers go, there is a higher chance of acceptance, as applicants are fighting for a larger number of spots.

If your family of capable of paying 4 years worth of expenses rather than 3, definitely go for the repeat.
