What are the advantages and disadvantages of repeating a year in your perspective.... especially at a HADES school, does it make a difference?

if you’re doing a sport, repeating is awesome.

also, if you were planning to apply as a junior, lots of kids decide to repeat sophomore year because… well, they take so many more sophs than juniors, so i guess it’s just logical

I’m currently repeating my freshman year at Exeter.

Advantages:

You get an extra year so if you do sports you should be better.
You should (hopefully )be a little more mature than the other kids.
If you repeat your freshman year you get the full four year experience.
If you repeat any year there are going to be more new kids in the grade that you repeat than the one that you were supposed to go into.

Disadvantages:

All of your friends from home graduate before you.
If you ever have to leave the school for some reason you’ll be stuck in that grade with all of the younger kids.
You’ll be checking in at 8:00 instead of 9:00 when you’re 17
Dating wise if you’re a girl all the guys are younger than you so you have to hope for some hot PGs senior year
It’s a little weird being older than everyone and the people in the grade you were supposed to be in seem older even though they aren’t.

There’s more but thats all I can think of off the top of my head.

so would you sugget applying as a sophomore repeat next year instead of applying as a junior?

yes most definitely

even if it isn’t for athletic reasons?

yeah i think so
you can take more classes do other stuff that you wanted to try etc.
and it really doesnt hurt your college admission process at all if you get good grades of course

I still don’t know how I am going to convince my parents.

simple it will increase my chances for getting into said BS
and it will improve my chances for getting into an exceptional college

they always say that educacion is what you make of it and I would be fine staying at my current school. they also don’t like the college excuse when I say that I will have more choices at BS than at my public school.

good thing i didn’t have to convince my parents hahaha

And once your in college nobody will care how old you were when you graduated High School.
