Replace AP Human Geo with AP US History?

I will be taking 4 APs junior year: Language, Bio, Comp. Government, and Human Geography. However, Language and Human are only a semester long. I am really considering replacing Human with US History because at my school, Human is a joke of a class. However, I’m nervous because US History is a year long class. Should I just stay in AP Human or take US History instead?

Do whatever you’re comfortable with! Colleges won’t know which one was considered easier among your peers. I doubt you would be penalized in any way for taking Hum instead of USH.

If you are interested in a Humanties major in college, take AP USH. If you are interested in STEM, then do the other.

Are you taking honors us history in addition to AP human geography?

Human geo is a joke and most colleges do know it isn’t that rigorous (don’t accept the credit…). APUSH is definitely a more useful AP class and involves more work. But if you want an easy class then stick with geo.

AP HUman geo is not a “joke”. It’s designed as a gateway-to-AP class for freshmen and sophomores who plan on taking AP social science classes. It teaches the approach and the level of rigor, without being overwhelming.
For juniors and seniors, it’s a complement, especially in high schools where there’s a lot of “gaming the rankings”, or it’s a good class for juniors/seniors who previously didn’t take any AP and are dipping their toes.
APUSH is a core AP, so obviously much harder and more thorough than AP Human Geo.

@MYOS1634 Yes, I agree. I took AP World my sophomore year (I did very well), and apparently the teacher I had is going to teach APUSH, so I am most definitely taking the class. There’s also a possibility that I’d be able to take AP Human Geo, APUSH, and AP Gov my junior year. I personally don’t have a problem taking 3 AP history courses, but I don’t know how colleges will take this. However, I do intend on majoring in History or East/South Asian studies.

Those 3 don’t look too bad together - no double-test days. History and government are back to back days, but then you get a break to catch up on sleep before geography.
