If we go into the FAFSA, remove a couple of colleges, and enter two new ones, does that mean the first eight (that were there originally when we submitted the FAFSA weeks ago) will see that the FAFSA was re-sent, and will know that we’re applying to more than ten colleges?
Would it be better to delete the original ten entirely, and submit it to just the two new colleges?
The FAFSA website recommends removing just the two colleges and replacing them with the two new colleges. We’ll probably do that, but I’m worried that doing so will hurt our chances with the first eight colleges if they receive the FAFSA a second time. (His top choice colleges are among those eight.)
Schools no longer see the other schools on your FAFSA
If you remove all the schools and then a correction happens, you have to go back in and make sure all the schools get that correction.
The part we were worried about is that I think we have to submit a correction to remove the two schools and replace them with the two new schools. There will still be eight of the original schools on the list. Won’t they receive a correction, too, and see that there weren’t any changes (so they’ll know we just submitted it to more schools)?
The FAFSA website seems to indicate that we should leave the other eight on there.
I think we’re going to go with what the FAFSA site says, but I’m nervous about it. We don’t want to affect his chances at those colleges.
Do what the FAFSA says, and don’t be nervous about it. Schools don’t see any information about other schools.
