I was recently admitted to UTD and I was just wondering what the deadline for accepting/declining the offer of admission was. Is it May 1st like most other colleges or is it earlier?

I'm also applying to the McDermott Scholars program and UT-PACT (the 7 year UTD/UTSW program). Since those deadlines are later in the year, I was wondering if I would have to respond to UTD before finding out my status with these programs or receiving any other offers of admission.

“Accept your admission offer. There is no deadline, but you should do this at least one month before classes begin. (When do classes begin? See the Academic Calendar.)”

link posted by yetanotherid is for the graduate program. Information for freshman, transfer and graduate are all different.

Freshman - Accepting offer of admission
Fall 2013 enrollment deposit deadline and deadline to accept scholarship awards was May 1. It is possible that the date may have changed for Fall 2014. Questions? Call 972-883-2270 or interest@UTDallas.edu

Transfer -Accepting offer of admission
Typically 48 -72 hours before an admitted student would like to meet and register with an academic advisor. All new to UT Dallas students are required to meet with an academic advisor to register for classes the first semester. Transfer students should also review their student center through the galaxy portal for any holds. Transfer Students who have rec’d certain scholarships may have additional requirements of deadlines.

My S as well. Did she accept the offer or is she waiting to see what scholarships are offered? Does anyone know if that has any affect on the scholarship offered?

My D is waiting for UT-PACT result which could be available in April next year. She will not go to UTD if not accepted by UT-PACT although UTD can give her a big money. (She got invitation letters on McDermott scholarship and Collegina V honors program from UTD. But she will not apply for those programs. AES scholarship (as NMF) could be good enough for her.)
By the way, your S doesn’t have to accept/decline until April. He can wait for other colleges’ admission and scholarship/financial-aid decision before accept/decline the offer. If he like UTD anyway, there is no reason to wait.

You can accept the offer, even if you aren’t 100% sure you’ll attend. If you accept, they will send you info. about housing/meal plans, but you don’t have to sign up for anything yet.

S’s acceptance said that scholarship offers will follow. If you are qualified for the AES, automatic score-based scholarships, you can pretty much assume that those offers will come. Be aware that if you are NM Semifinalist, and expecting to qualify for Finalist, you may be offered a lower level AES scholarship at first. Don’t worry–you will still get the NM scholarship later when you qualify for Finalist.

Please don’t accept any offers unless you are committed to UT Dallas. There are many worthy applicants and the scholarship funds are limited so please don’t take up a scholarship award unless you are committed to UT Dallas. You don’t have to reply right away so you have time to make up your mind. Please deny some other worthy student a scholarship at UT Dallas by accepting and then reneging on your acceptance late in the season. That is not good form.

I was referring to offer of admission, not scholarship offer. I’m not sure how that could take up someone else’s scholarship money if a student doesn’t attend? Perhaps someone from the school could clarify what the timetable/proper procedure should be. If you don’t accept the offer of admission, will you be considered for a scholarship offer?
