report successes after graduation here!

YAY JASMOM!!!! I am so happy for him... and you!! TISCH ROCKKKKKKKKKKKKSS!!!! Lol!!!

Fantastic, I have no idea what that word means Fuerzabruta, but I know we will find out! Congratulations to you & your son jasmom! What a grueling process the auditions must have been.

Thanks! (and thanks for the thread). Not many folks in my world understand how exciting this is for us. Now I just hope that the show stays healthy but some of the cast move on! He was told that it could be 2 weeks or 6 months. S noted that a one-year-out Tisch grad was also in the last 8 to be called back. I haven't seen the show, but hope to soon. It sounds wild. (and Fuerzabruta means brute force).

Each person's news here is very exciting. It is cool for me, however, to see news of kids whom I have seen perform before such as bdwaymom's D or jasmom's S.

I cross posted.

Jasmom, I had not heard of this show but read about it last night after seeing your post and it sounds very unique and that the audition was like no other! I am not sure if your son would be in water (sounded like only female actors are) but I was thinking, all those swim lessons came in handy, who knew? :D

jasmom, congrats to your son! Although every time work is booked it is a time for celebration, this TRULY is a time for you and your son to be proud. Fuerzabruta is a show which requires a very unusual skill set, as did Diqui James' previous show De La Guarda. It has had a long success off-Broadway, far longer than most shows and it's unique qualities will likely keep it there for a while yet. I'm not sure if they're still in the show but we know two kids who were in it earlier this year. Maybe your son knows? Their names are Hallie and Joshua. Hope something opens up soon! One bit of advice when you go to see him, be well-rested and wear comfy shoes! :)

To quote Alwaysamom, "every time work is booked it is a time for celebration." Boy, do I agree with THAT one! Of course, this celebration may be a little premature, since a role has to open up first -- but we take our victories where we can. I'll check re: the cast members. He notes that all cast and crew have been extraordinarily nice and supportive.

I saw Fuerzabruta last year and it was one of the best shows I've ever seen! :) Big congrats to your son!

Update: A PSU 2008 grad got the national tour of Grease.

OK - I started this thread, but had NO IDEA I'd be posting here so soon; d was supposed to graduate in December, but went to National Tour auditions for Spelling Bee "just for fun". Well, she got the part of Olive... Did I mention that CAP21 ROCKSSSSSSSSSS???? ;)

rossji: Congrats to your daughter. How exciting to be towards the end of her college career and to have this wonderful experience.

Rossij,

Congratulations. How very exciting for your daughter and you!!!
It is so fun to see what everybody's children are doing with their education.

rossji - congrats to your D!!!

That's pretty exciting. So what happens now? Will she finish up the schooling? I'm sort of curious about what happens in these situations. . .

Letsfigureitout - good question! Rehearsals start Sept. 18; the tour starts in Colorado in October and runs throughout the country til June '09. She is getting a deferral until next fall; we will actually be getting a FULL refund (and she keeps her scholarship, thank goodness!) INCLUDING the housing deposit. I can't believe they're being so nice about all of this. She is first on the waitlist for the fall semester 2009 at CAP; this last semester was her showcase as well as 1-2 other classes. I'm pretty sure she'll get in; the director at CAP said it won't be a problem. If anyone wants to see it, you can see at least part of the tour schedule online; it's only updated through January right now, though.

How's that for shameless promotion?? Ha ha...Hey, if my friends on CC can keep those ticket sales up, why not???

OMG! RossJi....that is amazing!!!! A HUGE CONGRATS to your talented D! This is an example of a role where her small stature is a plus, ya see? And she is following in D.G.'s footsteps in the role.....another CAP21 grad. This is huge news and you guys must be so excited! I gotta tell my daughter who will be so happy for your D! Wowee!

Thanks, SoozieVT and everyone else for your good wishes! SoozieVT, don't you mean DS's footsteps? Or is there yet ANOTHER CAP21 grad I'm missing?? And it might not be a coincidence that they had the same voice teacher (who just quit NYU, by the way, to pursue performing her music/writing musicals... :(

rossji, big congrats to your D and to you! :) Is this a new leg of the tour or a second tour going out? Eq or non-Eq?

RossJi, I was in a hurry before and I typed her initials wrong...yes, D.S.!

I just told my daughter about your D's casting news and she says, "good for her!!"

Wowweee RossJi, I couldn't be happier for you both! Fabulous news!
