Is there a way for UCLA to see that I failed a class Senior Year? I’m terrified they will revoke my acceptance. Does anyone have any experience with this?
I’d rather not call attention to this fact… If there is any chance that it can fly under the radar I’m going to take it. And please don’t chastise me (: I’m actually really nervous about this. Considering it was first semester I thought they knew already??
You are required to report any grades below a C to UCLA and any other UC you have applied to or been accepted. For UCLA, their provisional admission contract states that you need to maintain an unweighted 3.0 GPA with no more than 2 C’s your senior year. If you do not contact the schools now and wait until you send in your final transcript in July, you will be left with no options for the schools rescind your acceptance. Be proactive and contact the schools. They are understanding and are willing to work with you. Better find out now while you have some options.
@Gumbymom Thank you, I really appreciate it. Do you know how long it would take for them to reevaluate my application?
No, you need to contact admissions.
As Gumbymom writes that the schools “are understanding and are willing to work with you,” then I would also strongly suggest that you meet with your guidance counselor and agree on who will make the contact, and exactly what will be said in support of your ability to maintain the standards that got you accepted. Make sure your counselor is on your side, otherwise leave counselor out of it.
If being forthcoming is not an automatic reason for the offer to be rescinded, then crafting the approach very carefully places you in a good position.
Good luck to you.
