I have an ED app that's due November 1 and I'm planning on taking the SAT again in October. I'd like to submit my app somewhat early, but if so I won't be able to know my scores for that SAT. I did however choose to send them to this college when registering for this SAT. So the college will still receive my scores in time right? They mention that October is the last date you should take them so I think I SHOULD be ok but I'm confused.
If I send it in early and the application reaches them before the new scores will they wait till they get my new scores before making a decision? If so, are the scores on your common app even that important? They better not develop some bias by seeing the old scores first. >:[

I am wondering the same thing! I havent sent in my app yet, and so far i just left the sat section blank.

wondering same thing so bump!

ya i would like an answer too as I haven’t sent in my old SAT scores because I’m afraid if I do better on the Oct then I’ll have to pay collegeboard twice to send in my scores

score comes out on the 29th. u can also start delivering the October score on the 29th

so just submit it on the 29th :-)

Have had the SAME question. Some of D’s schools require that all scores be sent; however, some will allow you to send only the ones you want them to see. She’d like to wait until the results of the October test come out (29th), but boy…that’s cutting it awfully close for the Nov. 1 EA deadline, huh? She’s taken the test a few times already and has a great superscore, but she’d like to pull it up by 40 pts. in Oct. to put her above a 2300 which in her mind, will make her more competitive.

Also, anyone having similar concerns about the SAT II? My D has secured the score in Chem she’d like and her Math II is really good; however, she wants to take the Math II again and try for a perfect score in November and then take the Latin test in Dec. to replace a USHIST that she’s not thrilled with. She’ll need to finish the Common App by 10/31 for EA…how will she address these later SAT II scores on the app itself? Very confused. I’m fearful that the actual test results which will be submitted in Nov. and Dec. might be potentially jaded by those reported on the Common App in October.

But if I submit it earlier will they still get the test scores from October?

My advice is to contact the college to which you are applying ED/EA and see what they’d like you to do. Colleges don’t read all the apps on November 1 - it takes time to get everything in and organized. They also have apps coming in via mail that were postmarked by November 1. Don’t panic. If your scores have to be sent after your application the college can accommodate that.

If in doubt about the best approach, call or email the college. They are the ones who can best advise you on what to do.

Excellent question. My son took the SAT as a junior and scored 1230 (on the 2 parts), 1790 on three. He is applying to perhaps 6 schools, but three are slight reaches with an average SAT score of 1280-1310. (He is still inside the middle 50 percentile, but on the lower end).

Two of the three have rolling admissions, one you can go ED or EA. So, he just took the ACT (with the writing) and the results are probably 2 weeks away, and he will take the SAT again in October.

Let’s assume he thinks he can increase by 60 points to 90 points and gets to 1290/1880 on the 3 parts…and perhaps get a 29 on the ACT (that’s a 1300 comparison)

So do you apply now with the 1230 SAT with a possibly a more lenient admissions review, or do we apply later on, with slightly higher scores but enough for for it to be a match school and possibly some scholarship money, even though the entry pool is known to be much tougher as time continues to tick. Does the school reject you at this time even knowing that there will be another ACT or SAT score on the way.

Let’s get extreme here as an example…can a school reject you because you fell just a little short of the SAT score they are looking for (with all other things being equal), and let’s say the follow up scores ended up being a 33 ACT and a 1400/2100 SAT (unlikely in our case), but they did not wait for those scores to come through.

oh good question. I’m going out of the country on the 28th with no access to a computer. How can I get my SAT subject test results on the common app sent to my EA college? Can I just leave it blank then? If yes, do I fill in the subjects I took but not the scores?

Also, after if I want to add the scores for my other colleges, I can modify the common app to do that right?

oops i just saw this was quite some time ago haha sorry.
