Representational art and bio in precollege program

DD loves representational art (think DaVinci or michaelangelo) as well as biology. Any suggestions for a summer workshop program? she did Laguna College of Art and Design last summer. it was long (5 weeks) but excellent. Anyone? We are in CA, but she is interested in the program more than the location. Thanks!

You can find lots of programs in either on mysummeradvisor.com It might be helpful for her to look at programs at colleges she is considering. That way she will get to know the campus really well and also can attend an admissions talk as well.

Drawing is a foundational skill, so almost all art programs will offer this. She should focus on preparing a portfolio and many summer programs help with this. There are also lots of biology programs.

I’m on the East Coast. She should see about programs through Summer@Brown and Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). They are next to each other. I’m not sure if RISD offers housing, but Brown definitely does. There are also lots of opportunities in Boston. So many schools…She might like to spend time on the East Coast and see the Atlantic.

Assuming cost is not a factor, 2 top programs to look at are the Summer Pre-college Program at the Maryland Institute College of Art (MICA) and the Summer Institute Residence at the Art Institute of Chicago:
