Representing School?

Hi,
I have a question...
How good does it look if you are chosen to REPRESENT your school in things (i.e. writing contests, art contests, science fairs, foreign language contests) but still do not gain national recognition? does it "not count"? Is it even worth putting on the application?

thanks.

put it on the app.

you should put it on the app just to show that you actually do interesting things in your spare time and try to show school spirit. while it doesn't make you any more of a better candidate it shows that your a whle rounded person at least accademically

well, I don't mean... that I do "interesting things in my spare time".. I just mean that I am considered the top of my class and can thus represent my school in various contests, but it might not necessarily result in winning a contest or whatever it is. .. does that clarify things a bit?

i know exactly what you mean, and was in the same position of deciding about that. i decided to put them on - especially if its something where you were the only person chosen to represent your school. it shows youre at the very top of your grade in that respect, even if based on rank you aren't. i dont think it could hurt

yeah, thanks. I was just wondering if it seemed too... show-offish or unecessary. I know that the adcoms dont like too much extraneous information, but I guess if I represented the school in a subject that I want to show that so-called "passion" for, I'll put it on.
