I joined Invisible Children during my sophomore year of high school because I really believed in their mission during that time. All the money we raised went directly to funding a school in Uganda through a program called Schools for Schools.
However, during the past year I've grown more and more disillusioned with this organization. Many others feel this way as well. I'm not saying that it's an outright scam, but I've grown to realize that I disagree with a lot of their policies. Also, they discontinued the Schools for Schools program so the money we raise may not be used for education. A lot of the officers are talking about transitioning the club into something else. Perhaps to support a more reputable nonprofit. It wont be easy since the name "Invisible Children" is what has defined the clubs for years.
Do any of you belong to nonprofit organizations that have a very clear and beneficial cause? I'd especially like to hear about organizations that focus on education or micro financing in countries in Africa or southeast Asia. Do you have any suggestions as to how we could transition our club from Invisible Children to something that we all have more faith in? Thanks :)

A lady from my church goes to Tanzania every year, and my youth group has become very involved with raising money for her to take over there. They always need help having fresh water, and sending children to school. Look into that. I`m not aware of any specifc foundations, but there are some.

Hope that helps, at least some…only thing I could think of.
