Many people complain about the negativity and lack of concrete information in critical posts. I think a reputation feature should be added to the forum so people can better assess individuals (and the respective information) posting and be rewarded for being a contributive member of the College Confidential community.
Hi chemala…thank you for your input. We actually have discussed a feature along these lines in the past. While it would have the potential to help members draw more value from the forums, it would also be open to possible abuse (i.e. members voting up friends, etc.). We are still exploring options to minimize such abuse, but we can’t promise when or if such a feature will be available.
Thank you again!
No problem. Maybe you could employ a feature such as not being able to add reputation to the same user more than a certain amount of times in a certain time interval, and/or not allowing users to add reputation to other users more than twice in a 24 hour period.
you guys owe me a cookie or something
Technically, we have had it in the funnel of discussion for quite some time (i.e. long before this thread started)…so how about a piece of gum?
Some of you take this forum much too seriously. You should get out more.
I agree, zoosemom! There are only a handful of posters with “questionable” reputations. Isn’t there a way to block their responses from showing up if they bother us?
says the mom with over 6,000 posts
There are indeed limits on how often one can give the same person reputation!
How does the reputation feature work again? How does someone earn green squares? Where on this website does it explain all of this? Thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
You can find explanation for reputation here:
