I'm currently a student at LSE doing my masters degree in Finance and have a bachelors for Physics at Imperial College London. Was wondering, amongst the top American companies and general public how well known are these two universities? Will employers focus more on my grades than on what university i came out of?

Also out of interest how does the reputation of LSE and Imperial compare with each other in the states?

I’ guessing they are almost unknown in the states. Although employers hire a person because of their grades/interview performance not because they go to a specific university

LSE and Imperial are both well known and respected in their fields. However, they’re not really well known by the “public”. Then again, with a few exceptions (Harvard, Stanford, Yale, MIT - the schools mentioned in movies) the average American doesn’t know the quality of most schools, just the strength of the football team.

Then again, you can’t really blame them. I can’t name any of the top 10 Musical Theater schools. As a non-MT person, I have no reason to really know, just like a non-engineer has no reason to known the strength of Imperial’s engineering courses.

If your goal is to go into business (and it sounds like it is), school has a major impact on which companies will interview you.
