I was recently acceepted to Pace with a 24,000/yr scholarship + Honors College. Im still aiming for higher schools such as NYU and BU, but am still keeping Pace on my list, as money is a major factor in my decision. However, students in my area tend to look down upon the college, claiming "anyone can get in". I really liked the University, though, and would love to live in NYC for the next 4 years. How is Pace's reputation? Are its academics up to par?

Pace University has a very STRONG Honors Program. They supply you with a laptop and they have some of the best professors. My friend cannot stop talking about how her honors program is the best. They give you first to pick classes, dorms, ect.

I got a letter that I have been awarded an Honors Scholarship. Does that mean that I am also in their Honors College

40 years ago, I went to study in Pace. I found that the education I got is in par with all the “better” schools. I took classes in William and Mary, SUNY Purchase and several others during the Summer and Winter and found Pace’s program is as good as theirs. I ended up working in HP, KPMG, ABC TV and GE Capital without too much problem competing with all the others.

At the time, Wake Forest was my idol school and was seriously considering a transfer, but ended up graduating from Pace. BTW, was in Pace Westchester for 2 years and NYC for 1 year. Part timed on Wall Street and was well received of my work.

the education at pace is not what it was once and alot of people are not happy at pace because of ,
A. the price
B. lack of school spirit and “community”
C. its a commuter school in NYC
D. crappy food
E. crappy administration
F. most teachers are adjunct (meaning part time) and dont have offices or office hours and often cannot be reached by email (you’ll have to catch them at the end of class if theyre not in a rush). Granted there are a few teachers that are wonderful and do alot to help you out, but the majority of teachers just treat you like a number.

I had a teacher tell me that she had a life and needed to get coffee because the 10 am class was too early for her. this was the 2nd time i’ve spoken to her about our assignments and i wanted some more information on the midterm (and i am by no means obnoxious… i was the “quiet girl” in the class)

which professor is that? I hope my daughter didn’t get her for the fall!

@alf56, it was a math teacher : professor kelly.
another one to look out for : womens studies teacher, professor zagreda (interesting class but she was very unreliable as a teacher. I emailed her about our final paper because I was confused about the assignment. I never got a reply back but when i checked her facebook [how convenient], i realized she was clubbing instead of grading final papers & getting back to our emails. She was also the last to suvmit our grades, i got them 2/3 weeks after every other grade).

on a brighter note, some professors that really helped me and inspired me my freshman year include:
a. Professor shostya economics. Many students dont like her because her testes are so difficult, but if you listen to her and study- you will do fine (if not exceptional).

B. Professor simpson - he is also the director of first year programs in addition to being a polisci teacher. Very helpful and does whatever he can to help his students (refers them to people that can increase their financial aid, provided me with great letters of rec and opportunities)

C. Professor Tatiner - english prof, wonderfully funny and a reasonable grader if you understand your mistakes. Lets you revise, revise and revise until you get it right. He believes thats how most students learn.

D. Professor Weinstock (economics prof) - i never had him but everybody loved him

E. Professa Niezgoda , Math- does whatever she can to help her students. no office hours but usually arranges meeting if asked.

very very helpful and he has great office hours. i loved his class and
