Request for Mid Year Reports

I live in Canada, have not recieved Presidential/Trustee, and have not recieved this letter..
does that mean I'm out of the running?

i think you will just get deans

Not necessarily, I just received that letter yesterday, and I live in Texas, so it could be taking longer for people outside the U.S. But the letter did say that one could be considered for other scholarships, don't give up hope!

zee9449- The admissions office said that everyone who applied by Dec. 11 and will NOT be receiving a Presidential/Trustee scholarship WILL receive this letter. So you are still in the running until you receive this letter. And even after that, you (and all the rest of us who received that letter!) will be still be considered for other scholarships. We just have to wait until end of March/first week of April to find out.

If you are anxious, you can go ahead and submit your midyear grades online at http://www.usc.edu/MDYResponse.

i actually got 2 letters...one for the rejection of trustee/presidential which asked for mid years at the bottom

and a 2nd one that solely asked for mid years

appreciate it

When do you think all the midyear requests will be mailed out by? I've been really nervous going to the mailbox everyday...

diehldun-
Nothing to be nervous about until April 1! According to admissions, they told me that unless you get a scholarship from another source (e.g. Alumni), or your scholarship letter is "in the mail", no other acceptances are going out until April 1.

About the midyear requests, if you applied before Dec. 11 and you didn't get a "no scholarship" letter yet, either that letter or a scholarship letter should be in the mail. If you applied after Dec. 11, I don't know about the midyear requests. If that is the case for you, why don't you call admissions and ask tomorrow and report the answer here on the boards?

other than the online self-reporting, are we supposed to send them a copy of our REPORTCARD which will be mailed to me in a few weeks, or send them an official transcript from school??? OR are we supposed to fill out the 'midyear report form' from USC application packet?

papercuts-
Don't send them a copy of your reportcard. When I called, they said to do both: send an official transcript AND fill out the midyear report form online http://www.usc.edu/MDYResponse

Someone else on these boards called admissions and they were told that filling out the midyear report online was enough. I would still do both.

The website says to fill in out online and send in a copy of your REPORTCARD. It's easy to just read the directions in the first place.

this may be a stupid question... but did we have to APPLY for presidential/trustee scholarships separately.. or is it like the Deans where everyone is automatically considered?

cowtipper1- the no-scholarship letter doesn't use the phrase REPORTCARD. It just says, "please submit the grades you earned from the first marking perod of your senior year. For your convenience, you may submit your grades online at http://www.usc.edu/MDYResponse." When I called, admissions clarified to me the first part meant "transcript".

I couldn't find the reference for REPORTCARD on the website- maybe it is after you log in but I couldn't do that again for some reason. Maybe some people call an official transcript a REPORTCARD?

I think these boards are here to help us all sort out all the different directions and information we get from admissions.

zee9449- Anyone who submitted their application by Dec. 11 was considered for presidential/trustee scholarships as well as the deans/associates scholarships.

weird, i havnt recieved any letter yet stating i did not qualify for presidential/trustee... and theyre obviously all gone..

After you sign in to report your grades online, it says:

"Official Report Card: You must send under separate cover, a copy of your official report card received from your high school. Please mail it to:

University of Southern California
Office of Admission
University Park Campus
Los Angeles, CA 90089-0911"

I apogize, I didn't know that you couldn't log into the website.

zee9449: Not necessarily. There were a couple people last year that did not receive their Trustee scholarship until well into March.

I'm in the same situation as you, as I have received no letter about scholarships (none saying I'm not not getting Presidential/Trustee, and none saying I am).

oh interesting... that gives me hope! :)

Is there a difference between a report card and a transcript?

The report card I received includes #'s (1 2 3) that describe our attitude, participation and preparation for each class. Those didn't go all that well for me. Can I just send a transcript with just the grades?

SpecialAgentPunk-
At our school, a report card is the report mailed home for parents. It is not official. A transcript is an official statement that includes all grades-to-date. Our school has a service (Docufide) that sends transcipts via online order.

So- you don't have to send your "report card" with the non-academic ratings. Just send the official transcript AND fill out the online report.
