Required Courses at Mary Washington

Hello.

I'm interesting in majoring in philosophy. I was wondering what courses are mandatory for all majors. A friend told me that all undergraduates must take a language, science, math, and physical education. Is he correct?

Thanks.

Physical education isn’t required anymore, but everything else is. All of the general education requirements and the courses that can be used to meet them are here: [University of Mary Washington | General Education Fall 2008 and Beyond](http://www.umw.edu/registrar/degree_completion_requirem/babs_bls/general_education_fall_2001.php)

Thanks for the link.

Do you know if the courses run for a full-year or just 1 semster?

Just a semester.

My daughter is junior at UMW and a Philosophy major. Stevensmama gave you the link to what you need to know for gen ed requirements. Feel free to ask about any philosophy classes. D is home and can answer them.

As far as Fredericksburg itself goes, I don’t see it as any more dangerous than other places of it’s size. Train service is available and fairly cheap if you want to do a DC internship. It seems a good number of students do that.
