So I'm having a mental break down right now! When choosing my classes for junior year my guidance counselor told me I only needed two years of a language, but today when I was researching schools they required three years or more. So now I'm entering my senior year not knowing what to do!! Help Please!!! :/

Take at least three years of language to be on the safe side. It’s always better to play it safe.

There’s a difference between what you need to graduate and what a college requires. You looked it up, do the three years.

Three or four years (depending on college) is what is expected by many high ranked colleges although they usually phrase it in terms of recommended courses rather than required. However, majority of colleges outside of those usually require no more than two. In other words, if your intent is to apply to high ranked private universities you should take the thrid year. If your intent is instead to just apply to your home state university, having two may be more than enough. If you have ideas at this time to which colleges you might apply, you should go to the admissions section of their websites because they all list courses and number of years for any subject they expect you to have had in high school.
