I’m an ED admitted student, and my grades have fallen somewhat (maybe considerably) after my junior year. I have a few A’s and mostly B’s for first semester. I just finished my finals, and I am really worried my mid B in AP Chem could fall to a C. Getting in was such a relief; I’m just concerned now about my dip in grades.
For second semester, whenever most people usually let their grades slide, I’ll make it a priority to get straight A’s and really commit to improving.
So, in light of my situation, what are the chances that I get rescinded? Will they forgive my lackluster first semester performance if I show much improvement second semester?
1 C may not result in the admission being rescinded. As long as there are no D/Fs or being convicted of a crime or academic dishonesty, you should be fine.
We worked with a private college counselor, and she said the same as what Hamurtle wrote . . . you do not want D/Fs. That said, she did have a student get into MIT who got a final grade of a C- and was still admitted but went in on academic probation! Keep working and you should be fine!
If you drop one of your classes next semester in order to have Early Release, could that also result in a rescinded admission? I am considering dropping one of my easy classes next semester for Early Release.
@blazinamazin2023 I am not sure about that – last year, my son wanted to change a class after being admitted ED and our college counselor and HS counselor advised against it. You could call and ask, but I would not do it without confirmation.
@blazinamazin2023 I would contact admissions before dropping any classes. Your senior year class schedule was part of your admissions. If it is in fact an easy class, why bother messing with your admittance? My son opted for keeping all the classes because he was nervous to actually have to ask! Why risk anything at this point . . . you are going to WashU!
