Rescindence due to chronic lateness?

What if, hypothetically speaking, one were to be accepted to Penn early decision with a Trustee Leadership Scholarship and wonderful financial aid package.

And what if they got Straight A's on their midyear report, raising their GPA from 4.0 to a 4.1.

But they had about 15 latenesses.

What if, by the end of the year, this person were to have, say, 30 latenesses on their report card, as well as a bunch of absences (around 15-20)?

Like, a different strain of Senioritis, not the kind that lowers your grades, but the kind where you feel like "what the hell's the point of coming to school today? I'm gonna ace the damn test anyway and I'm tired because of the crapload of extracurricular activities I'm doing."

Will there be repercussions if one were to be late too many times senior year? Thanks!

My assumption is: no, it won’t hurt. Unless, maybe, a teacher/counselor writes them and complains about your being late/absent. But that’s just my assumption.

I know EXACTLY how you feel.

Be careful - some states/communities have laws about that kind of thing, and breaking such a law could certainly get you in big trouble.

do absenses and tardies show up on your transcript? haha i never knew…

^^^^
I know they’re on report cards, but they aren’t on transcripts (at least at my school).

yeah i dont think on mine either…

they do on our transcripts…

I’ve been late about 30 or 40 times..but it’s only by seconds every day…
I really hope colleges wouldn’t rescind acceptances based on so many other factors for something like this.

For a few days in May of my senior year I wasn’t going to graduate because I had been late literally every single day for months. But they never really enforced that stuff unless you really ****ed them off.

My favorite part was realizing each morning that once I was already going to be late anyway, I might as well wait 10-15 minutes more.

yea, same here…i have to be at school and swipe in by 8:15, but I get there on average, at around 8:16 or so. but the thing is, whether one comes in at 8:16 or 12:00 (which i have done several times, btw), it makes no difference; late = late (except for the obvious fact that you miss morning classes). so…i wonder what the deal is on this…i don’t remember if my transcript has that kind of data though

you have to swipe in for class???

yea, everyday. we have these ID cards and we have to swipe into the machine as soon as we exit the metal detector or else we will be marked absent.

metal detectors too??? yikes.

ok so i guess that the general consensus is that i don’t have much to worry about as long as i don’t accumulate abscences. gravy. first and second period aren’t that important anyway.
