Rescinding Admission Honors Program

Soooooo… my GPA this quarter is not good at all, because I am having problems with one teacher in particular and my grades are slightly lower in general.

I think that I will end up with a GPA this quarter between 3.0 and 3.5 (unweighted)… probably around a 3.3 or 3.4. Does the Honors Program rescind their admissions? (I’m really scared)

I don’t think they will take away your honors admission. I think the only way that would happen is if you did so badly senior year that they took away your admission to OSU altogether. You’re fine  And even if they do, after 1 semester at OSU you can apply to honors again

I wonder something different for my son-if he can ask to go from honors into a scholars program instead-

prettysing: Thank you I hope so!

NEohio: I’m not sure if you can do that, but I do know that you can transfer from Scholars to Honors after one semester. Scholars is available only to freshmen. I would stick to Honors, though, if your son got in because you do have the perks of better dorms and have first choice in picking classes (and at a school this big that is a HUGE advantage). Also, Honors is more academically oriented and prestigious.

I’m pretty sure you’d have to bomb out for them to rescind…but you could email your admissions counselor and ask.

You would only lose Honors if you do poorly GPA-wise once you’re actually in OSU…like previously mentioned, you would have to do absolutely terrible (like Ds) for that to happen before school actually starts.

I’ve been in Honors and I’m graduating this quarter–it was definitely worth it! Priority scheduling = amazing
