rescinding admissions...

I recently have received a letter from my college (one of top 20 schools) saying that after reviewing my grades, they dont think my senior yr grades r satisfactory enough and says my admissions is in jeopardy. I had problems with family situation all senior yr. They told me to send an explanation about my senior yr grades. What should I do? I m rly scared and worried about my admissions getting revoked

FYI my senior yr grades
1st sem 2nd sem
ap chem C C+
ap calc C- C
ap engli B B
ap govt/econ A- A
ap latin B+ B

Hm...Troll?

Wow, I'm really surprised they'd consider rescinding with those grades. I've heard it happen when people start failing classes, but I think this is rare. I guess you should explain your family situation so they know you're not just partying and quitting school. Good luck!

It's an intimidation tactic, don't worry about it.

k, i already sent them a letter explaining my family situation. I mean they sounded serious about my "admission being in jeopardy" (it was a direct quote from them btw). but hopefully, my admission wont get revoked. any more inputs?

surfboy: "any more inputs?"

Be sure to communicate in complete sentences with real words that are spelled correctly.

Since you're done with school, how can they possibly rescind you?
You can ignore them entirely, the stuck-up punks.

Well, I have heard most colleges can and do rescind their admission offers during the summer before the matriculation. And SoCalGal, I have checked my spelling and sentences before I sent them the letter. Thank you for your concern, but I dont know, I m just little surprised, since I didnt get any Ds or Fs

hmm interesting...its not like u failed ur classes or anything

i heard they do it just to try to scare you straight, but i wouldn't just blow it off either

You are wise not to ignore the letter and to write them back explaining the situation. Colleges definitely can and do rescind acceptances. If there is a teacher or guidance counselor or someone like that who was aware of your family situation, a letter from him/her would also support your cause. Good luck.

well it's really hard for me to contact my counselor or teachers, because they rarely check their emails during summer and i think my counselor is out of town..so ya..but they said they r reviewing my case and i should find out in a letter in few days..so nervous..its gonna ruin my life if my admission is revoked
