what's the minimum one can do without getting their offer of admission rescinded (at an ivy league school) after getting in ED?

I believe complain about financial aid package or something? Not too sure. But why did you apply for ED in the first place?

If you've gotten in to an Ivy League school, why would you risk anything less than your best? I would think that a handful of B's would be okay, but that doesn't mean all B-'s. If you can get an A, why not get an A?

A kid at my school got in early to MIT. He got a D first semester in AP English because he was lazy as hell and did nothing. All he did was write a letter to MIT explaining how he regrets the D and how he won't get it again 2nd semester (he got a C second semester). They didn't care.

Mind you, he had an unweighted 4.0 before senior year.

Keep your grade up. I'm sure somebody on this board would not cry if your offer get rescinded. One more slot available for the RDers. In short, don't listen to anybody's advice about getting C s and Ds.

Oh, here's another story!

A girl from my school last year got a C- in physics first semester after getting in early to Wellesley. She got about 2 or 3 other B's. But they were okay with it, they didn't care.

And neither should you!

Admissions officers look at the whole senior year program...we know if you're taking it easy in the second semester...it isn't a good idea to bring down the rigor of your curriculum at any point in the senior year if you're applying to most selective schools - there are scores of students taking AP Calc BC, AP Physics and Chem, and other difficult AP courses through the end of their senior years applying to these schools - taking it easy at any point in the senior year sends a pretty strong message to an admissions officer.

And as for ED admits, it is really not a good idea to let your grades slip - a few B grades (and I mean a few, like 1 or 2) isn't going to hurt, but seeing a general downward trend in grades at midyear or for final grades is going to get you in hot water.

if you're smart enough to get into an ivy ED, it shouldnt be hard for you to cruise, and easily mantain at least B-'s and A's in the easy classes. Just do that.
