Research Hours

Is it better to do research like for 5-6 hours straight for two or three days rather than to spread it out 2-3 hours each day?

I mean what does the professor usually prefer?

I want to do the 5-6 hours for two days then study for the rest of the week and attend classes but does that sound okay? I mean I would think the professor prefers you to be there everyday to check up on things right? Going to a lab for two days out of seven, I'll tend to miss some things right?

What do you guys do? What worked for you?

That depends on what type of research you are doing. The professor wants you to work the hours in whatever way allows you to make the most progress. As long as you do that, he likely doesn’t care if it is 5 hours a day for 3 days or 3 hours a day for 5 days. Different research projects will have different needs.

Of course if you are a grad student, research is like a full time job and this question is sort o moot.
