I was wondering if any current Clemson students or parents of Clemson students could tell me about the research and internship opportunities available at Clemson, given its rural location. Are students at a significant disadvantage because of the location? I am asking because I would likely be attending grad school afterwards and those factors are important for gaining admittance to most programs. Thanks for any insight you can give me on this topic!
We have hired interns from Clemson many times over the years in NYC. Not too rural.
That’s great to hear, @pkgny2022 ! That was another slight concern; I have never lived outside of the south so I don’t really know what Clemson’s reputation is nationally. Thank you! I actually meant opportunities during the school year; I know one student who commutes to Greenville everyday from Clemson but I wasn’t sure if that’s common. It seems like many students from other schools intern during the school year as juniors/seniors, so I wasn’t sure if Clemson students had similar opportunities. Glad to know that even if internships aren’t common during the year, Clemson students have the chance to work in great cities like NYC in the summer!
@mcco Internships and Co-ops are very common during the year and required for many majors. And have you checked out Creative Inquiry? The undergraduate research options. They are plentiful and can be taken for course credit.
I haven’t; that is just the kind of thing I was looking for! Thank you! @Baxter126
