I've been ghosting these forums for a while now, and I've decided to finally make an account.

What type of research/internship/volunteering/clubs have you managed to complete during your stay at a CC? How hard is it to find some if you're going the pre-med route? Can you get any internships/research that lasts for one or two years? What do you recommend?

craigslist is actually a good place to start looking. all of my internships were done during gap years (notice the plural lol ) but i know many people who look for things on craigslist…sometimes they even send a resume to a job offer and in their cover letter let the employer know that they would do the position as an intern if they are willing to report it to their cc for credit. this has worked for a friend who got an intake internship at a hospital.just an idea.

Also those signs on the side of the freeway are pretty good.

Very easy to find research and volunteer opportunities in the medical field. Go to your local hospital and sign up for hospice or a normal volunteering position. Medical related Clubs might be at your CC.

Do you mean paid internships? Doubt you could get one, closest I’m thinking would be to become a phlebotomist during your CC years (if you could find the classes/training).

Really the best place for pre-med advice is to visit the Student Doctor Network Forums if you haven’t already. PS They hate when you call yourself pre-med.
