omg omg local RSI connexion!!!!

so this is pretty random, but...

i was at the caltech info session when i realized the guy in front of me was wearing tshirt saying "its...people". recognizing this phrase from the lovely CC forum, I tapped him on the shoulder and asked him if he'd gone to RSI, and he had! He asked me afterwards for my CC name, cuz i said thats how i knew about it, and where I'd gone to school, but I didn't catch his! yah pretty retarded I know, but if you are here, pm me who you are.

You're from the northwest.... could the person you met be randomperson then? (This is a guess from someone that is bored of editing and re-editing college essays. :-/ Feel free to laugh if I'm wrong. :-P)

lol, yeah, it's me. My sn is... um... kinda random, so don't worry about not catching it. Nice seeing a fellow Northwesterner (is that the right word? lol, I have no idea) apply to RSI, and if you need any help, you can pm me.

hahaha... mad detective skills!

"so this is pretty random, but..."

-irony

matt, what state are you from again? seattle? whoops that's not a state, but then again, neither is new hampshire. ehehehehh

near portland, oregon, i think

Ugh. There's no way I can get in. I started too late. I don't have nearly any credentials, or much to back up my urge to succeed and explore science. NOTHING. Yet.. RSI looks and sounds so incredible..

Hey Vinayak, Adam, Arun, etc. does a 80 Math PSAT make up for a ~700 SAT Math 1??? I made like the stupidest mistakes on SAT 1 and the math curve is killer. I also have a 800 in Math 2C and a 5 in Calc AB as well if RSI still doubts my ability to perform basic math. I hope I didn't just screw myself over...

Woah woah woah. Don't die yet. There's a huge range of things that RSI looks for. Dont rule yourself out on the stats alone. How did you find that "urge to succeed and explore science?" What are the "nearly any credentials?" That's what this thread is for. We love making people rickoids!! (And making ricklets...wait, did I type that out loud?)

P.S. Sukrit, you cannot hide from me. MACHO Bulges shall rule the world.

P.P.S. Oops, delayed posting. My last post was directed towards karch.

To thegurlnext_door: I think those scores will be passable. ;) (gross understatement, anyone?) But don't forget that scores aren't everything.

I'm interested in astrophysics as well!!! :) YAY!!!

who's adam?
yes it makes up for it, the rsi dudes really dont care much about sat stuff unless it really sucks

"Ugh. There's no way I can get in."

-youre absolutely right, quit while youre behind

Wait, is randomperson Adam or Paul???

This is random but what position do you play on your school's varsity tennis team Arun???

"youre absolutely right, quit while youre behind"

:D I see what you did there, thanks.

Or maybe I overthought that. Hahaha.

randomperson is Matt :-P.

haha, Jen, I'm taking a break from college essay-ing, too. whee!!

college essays suck.

i'm ready to burn my collective 1100 words of delusion. until i remember that would involve burning my laptop, which i love.

i took out all my bottled up frustation in a xanga post. it's rather risque.

Yeah, essays are no fun. I think your xanga post is really good, though, Cindy - it's funny how completely I agree with it.

What fields can we do in science?

Like is theoretical Physics a field that I can choose even though there isn't anything tangible to work with (like many math projects are, I assume)?

Like can I choose a field like Quantum or Higgs Field?

Yeah a lot of projects are theoretical. Syed's was this year, and I think same with Peter...
