Research Science Institute 2006

lol, thanks for clearing that up, randomperson. haha

wow. this thread grows.
and yes, I'd have to say that people at RSI are very openminded... it can even be a little disconcerting at times, though the overall experience is awesome. =)
I did bio at RSI. I kindofsortof had USABO (I'm an intl student in the US, so I took the paper for fun - twas all unofficial) and the Canadian Bio Olympiad, although I didn't have the latter when I applied. No prior research. caveat: as an intl admit my background may be different from others here. but I'd imagine that it all boils down to maximizing your opportunities, wherever you are / whatever you're doing.

Keep in mind that yes, RSI wants cool people, but unlike college admissions, RSI admissions does not weigh too heavily on this "coolness" factor. They look more for raw passion and talent. Hence, your recs and application should reflect this. There is absolutely no use to sending an English teacher rec since they probably don't know you scientifically. "This student is a leader" will probably have little effect on admissions.

Raw scientific talent? Does getting 5's on AP Chem, Bio, and Calc. BC as a sophomore count??? Btw, I'm not talking about me...

I know who you're talking about and yes that probably helps

Aww man...there's no chance, vinayak :(
btw, I have scene in 10 mins

omg this is effing crazy. i'm gone for a few weeks and this thing has 17 pgs already?

nghi, you've arrived!

Quick question: I'm new to AIM. How do I download the RSI05 list on RSIAA to my AIM buddy list? I clicked on the link while I was signed on to AIM, nothing happened.

nghi! holla :)

ya college has been busy.

what college?

stanford i think?

according to facebook, it is so

checked facebook, yes it is stanford

<3333's facebook

a note on vinayak's response to corinao: greats APs in tough science courses at a young age would definitely make one look better, but it doesn't always show raw scientific talent. it's possible that the student just knows how to get good grades and test scores. supplementing it with something beyond the classroom, however, would make it look very solid.

(tickles sukrit to upload the RSI'05 buddy list, right-click on the AIM s/n download link, save as a .blt file, and then load it through the command in the MyAIM menu. hope that helps!)

that didnt work for me

whatevr

gave up on aim, it sucks anyway

huggles stephie

only tickling? no poking?

nah

eugenics doesn't work from poking.

ducks

did he get into harvard?
