Research Science Institute 2007

Haha, I've been checking the Summer Programs forum for signs of the yearly RSI thread since September...and here it is...

Btw...yeah, this thread is most definently go past 30 pages...last year's was like...230.

So, you have to have a junior standing to do RSI?

So, what do you guys really do in RSI?
I checked out the website. It sounds really fun!! I wanna know more about it!

I agree - this looks interesting!
Can't wait until December! :)

15 rickoids apparently made semis for siemens.... lawl.

at rsi, you learn about sketchiness.

omg SKETCHINESS!@@!!!!!!!

hmm... What exactly is this skethciness?? =3=

HI everyone!
It's nice to see the interest in RSI....
I was RSI '06 so I can answer most questions you have...not too much for the sketchiness though...haha JK ;)
oh yeah, and I'm the old anaphora, but I had to get a new login ID :P

hksangha,
yeah, you do have to be a junior, unless you're graduating early or have other extenuating circumstances...

are there lots of ppl in the states graduating early?

I will be applying and I hope I really get in. It will be a great chance for me to meet new people and finally get a good grasp on the research field.

If you're graduating early, can you still apply as a junior?

yes, you can, but unless there is something really, really great about you, i think you're chances of getting in are greatly diminished. in addition, rsi doesn't like to accept students who are graduating their junior year because it doesn't give them the chance in compete in siemens or sts.
btw. anaphora- you of all people would know about sketchiness ;D!

What about eugenics?

I just went on their website and read their requirements for applying. So they recommend that you have at least a selection index of 220? What if you score below that? Will your chances be greatly diminished?

Well, the score index is recommended 220+, and they probably put it there for a reason. However, as long as you show inherent interest in science research and have strengths in other areas, you should not worry about that "barriar".

congrats to geoff, harrison, amar, and mitka for making sw regional finals!

this thread really died

Yeah, and the other one hasn't had many hits either.... :(
RSI kids are the best!
Congrats and good luck to regional finalists!

"RSI kids are the best!"

yeh, the rest of us aren't really losers either..lol
