Just curious, why do people who got in never added their names to the above list? Good luck to everyone who posted.

Heh, you don't have to frequent CC to get accepted to RSI, highsea08.

On that note, I got in. Pretty cool.

im an alternate...i think one alternate or two got in last year but im not sure

I was accepted as well. I was reading one of the threads from 2005 or 2006, which said they had 15 or so alternates; RSI usually conflicts with MOPS, so there are usually a couple of people who opt for the latter. Good luck!!!

thats stupid, why would they conflict with MOP?

The summer is only so long. RSI and MOP are both commitment tests.

Has anyone been accepted to RSI as an alternate? And how many are there?

are you kidding me?!
alternate!?!

I HATE THIS.
so close, yet so far. =[

edit: i'm going to leave this thread for good, since my results are in and i am FUMING.

Rejected.
Ah oh well. Congrats everyone :)

Still haven't gotten my letter :( Stupid post office...

Rejected too. Not a shocker really, but I think all of us had that mad hope.. that could only be realized for a few. Oh well, CONGRATS to those that made it! What are you people that also got rejected planning to do with your summers?

I'll probably still try to do research, but it's going to be impossible without a mentor. And other stuff.

Last year there were 15 alternates. NONE got in last year. One or two did the prior year. We have reason to know. ;)

how about a crazy question: what if someone knew he / she was first alternate, and would get in if you dropped out. how much would they have to pay u to drop out?

I guess most people who got into RSI are from well to do family. The amount of money an alternate CAN pay to someone to drop out will be insignificant.

but if i was accepted...idk, a couple million or billion dollars still seems enticing ;) jk lol

Hey, realistically, no alternate can pay a couple of million, let alone be a billion. No one will take his/her offer seriously.
If an alternate can indeed afford to pay 1/10th of this amount, he/she does not need RSI.

Waiiiiiiit. No alternates got in last year? crap

False. Two alternates attended camp last year.

I hope some brilliant kid likes TASP better.
