Research Science Institute (RSI) 2009

Somebody start a facebook group!!!

kay so i started a facebook group called rsi 2009. Join it!

Congrats you guys! I'm probably going to get rejected and then be to jaded to laud any accepted people, so I wanted to say it now while I still really mean it.

So can anyone give me the most honest answer possible? what chance do i have as an alternate? is it basically a soft rejection?

aw man :[ you guise got letters? or emails? I didn't get anything :[

I am beginning to think maybe this was just a joke. I thought decisions weren't coming out until march. Someone tell me FOR SURE that this really happened. Did anyone here get rejected? that would let me believe that these letters are the real deal.

It's not a joke--the decisions are out. I received my letter today. I don't know if anyone got rejected; so far on CC, everyone's either gotten accepted or put on the waitlist.
If you really need proof, just email RSI director Cliff Bowman (hcbowman@cee.org).
Good luck to the alternates (plenty of people don't end up going--olympiad camps, etc). Congrats to those of you who made it, and I hope I'll see you soon.

aw I prob got rejected, I don't have ANY national awards, etc.

Okay, so I called and talked to Cliff Bowman. Decisions are out, but we have to wait for them to come in the mail. I really just wish some program would accept me before this weekend so I don't have to apply to my sure thing.

wat!!! decisions are out!?!?!?! crap. i hope i got in. and why haven't i received my letter yet?? i live in nj -_-

To those who got in, what is the size/shape of the envelope?

they are always the same size

Do they send out the reject and accept letters at different times? Because a friend of mine who lives close to me got their acceptence already but I haven't gotten anything. I'm hoping it's only because they applied sooner than me, but who knows. :( Insights?

Do they at least send rejection letters? Also did anyone from California receive any mail yet?

Not to freak anybody out, but I think they did mail out acceptances earlier. I mailed my application in as late as possible (express mail the day before it was due), and I got my letter. Someone who lives only an hour away from me and mailed in their application earlier than i did has received nothing. Again, I am just speculating.

Computergeek, did you get in?

OH! and for the record, i did not have any national awards or anything. just a couple of research awards. I think the essays and recs played a huge role in my acceptance.

Hey all!

I got a letter from RSI saying that I am an alternate for the program. How many alternates are there and how many actually get to go to the program?

well actually that's a misnomer cuz i remember looking through all the old forum and all the people who got their letters in the BEGINNING were rejected (with like 2 people who were accepted) and the rest were accepted towards the end (with like 10 people being rejeted)..... but other years, it was pretty random.

and why would they do that anyway??? that doesn't make any sense.. just because u sent in ur app late doesn't mean u get ur letter earlier -_-... because they have to go through ALLL the apps before making decisions on which 75 people are getting in

and one person here was rejected.. it was like one of the very first posts that they got a letter --... i hope i get mine tomorrow or --

Yea decisions are out.
Congrats guys. A person I know said she got her letter yesterday and was accepted.

I havent gotten my letter yet so I probably did not get in. Oh well, its alright, Ill just do research at my local university.

BTW, I think that national awards<passion/research. If I do not get in (which I probably didnt since I havent received my letter yet), it was because that I didnt do any research and my essays were not very good. Oh well, like I said, theres always other places to do research.
