Research Science Institute (RSI) 2014

yes i as well

awkward i didn’t
does that mean they just haven’t looked at it yet? because my check was filed, submitted, everything, which WOULD logically indicate that they’ve received my app

anyone else NOT get an email like what @sciencechap24 and @absoluteMIT did?

@science2015: Could someone else get your check and cash it? Sound not likely, but

@science2015: Yeah, I applied to RSI also but didn’t receive an email. I have gotten my postcard back from them. Hopefully it just means they haven’t gotten to it yet (my application materials arrived there just before the deadline).

@infinityForte @science2015 I too got my postcard, but have not received the email. They got my app right before the deadline, so they probably haven’t got to it yet. Do you know how many people applied?

okay 2-3% admission rate and then 80 peoople acceptance do the math

Hi @sciencechamp24 @absoluteMIT, since you received an email from RSI, how early did you submit your applications? RSI does not have a rolling application, so there shouldn’t be anything to worry about.

@sciencechamp24 @absoluteMIT Can you post a copy of the email, the title in the subject heading, and the sender, so I can check to see if it went in my junk inbox (hopefully it didn’t).

@math1234 1 day before deadline

4000 applications will give RSI about $200K income. About 3500 applications were probably thrown away without even being assessed by MIT admission officers.

Do you think it’s safe to assume that those who got the email made it past an initial screen? and the rest were “cut”? I cant think of another reason CEE would even bother letting them know that they are being reviewed. (Assuming there actually was an email)

I don’t think so, because they might not have gotten a chance to review them all yet. They wouldn’t charge everyone the application fee if they were just going to throw some of the applications away

i don’t want to seem naive or anything, but would they actually just throw away a certain number of applications without even reviewing them?

But what is the purpose of sending that email if they are all to be reviewed anyway? We expect them to be reviewed, so why do they have to notify us? (im genuinely curious, not arguing)

I know that Simons sent out similar emails this year, but their emails doubled as a notice of application receipt. Considering that CEE already has the postcard system in place, I’m not entirely sure what the rationale behind these emails is. I haven’t received one, and I’m pretty sure their existence is just a rumor.

Who else received the preliminary review emails? Or it is just a ■■■■■?

LuoSciOly, did you receive such an email last year?

My son has not received an email
only the returned post card.

What? It’s February 20th! Are you sure?

@greenbat23 ■■■■■!

Ummm
no? And I haven’t gotten an email. Haha.
