research

hi, is it possible to do research without urop? i'd like to be involved in research, but i'm not in urop, and i was wondering what the best way to find research opportunities is for someone in my situation. thanks

what is urop

Undergraduate Research Opportunity Program, University of Michigan

I to would like to know about research outside the UROP realm.

Either e-mail professors directly, or see if your department sponsors any REU programs (Research Experience for Undergraduates), though usually those are over the summer.

Contact professors, even if you don't know them. They will hook you up with a job, if they need helpers, etc.

UM has a plethora of research opportunities, none of which require you to be part of UROP. I've done a lot of research here and I got involved by simply emailing professors/researchers whose research interested me. You're probably gonna be volunteering if you don't have any prior experience, but you can always work your way up the ladder.
