Residence Assignments

How does one go about doing a direct switch? My D really does not want to be in Towers and would rather be in West (1st choice) or Warren. Towers was not even on her top 5 list.

Shields tower 16th floor!

I’ve been assigned to Rich Hall in West Campus but I’m going to be in CAS. I know it’s a pretty convenient place to be if you’re an athlete, but I’m pretty nonathletic, and, besides that, it seems to be a pretty inconvenient walk. Should I try and switch out, or is it not as bad as I think?

annabel - My D would love to switch with you! She is in Towers at 140 Bay State Rd, she is far from CGS. Let me know if you are interested.

i’m an eco major in cas and i’m on an all COM floor but whatever, everyone seems pretty chill

hey, i was assigned to the 5th floor of the Shields (C) tower of Warren Towers and I saw on the site that the particular floor is a specialty floor for Common Ground or something? Can anyone explain what that is? I have no idea and I didn’t ask to be put in specialty housing.

Hi there,
I will be an incoming freshman to Boston U.
I recently just got assigned to Warren Towers, but my top choice was Towers.
If no direct swaps occur, when would I be able to fill out a room change request form?
Could I do it as soon as I get to school in late August and how long will it take for things to change?

Also, which dorm is closest to the School of Education?

Hey Spidergirl,

I lived in Warren my freshman year and intially wanted to switch residences. Really the only way that you can do it is direct swap, which you’d have to do when school starts. The only other option is Summer Swap, where you put down your top three options and are assigned one of those is there are any spots available.
But I will warn you, most of the kids swapping are from Danielsen, West, 1019 or other dorms on the ends of campus. You’re going to have a tough time getting a swap into Towers. I’d recommend keeping your eye out for any direct swaps into Towers, but giving Warren a chance. It’s not too different, and you’ll have a dining hall downstairs as a bonus! Towers’ dining hall closed at the end of this school year.
Either Warren Towers, Towers or any of the Bay State Brownstones are close to SED

I lived on 12C last year. There were a few kids that were not engineering majors, they just got placed there. We had a few events but for the most part everyone went because they were not too focused on engineering. Last year everyone got along well and became friends, even those who weren’t engineering majors. You could still end up having classes with some of the engineering kids. It was a lot of fun last year and I’m assuming it shouldn’t change too much this year!

Hey, I’m going to be a sophomore transfer this fall and I got placed into a bay state brownstone single… it’s the trustee sscholars house or something. I know everyone says brownstones are gorgeous, but I didn’t apply for specialty housing. I’m in SMG, so at least it would make sense if they put me in the Management house.

I’m just afraid I might not meet any new people, especially since I’m pretty much going to be like a freshman at BU. Also, does anyone know how big the singles are in the brownstones?

@finallyfound
the bay state brownstones (from what I’ve seen) are either super tiny or pretty nicely sized (like bigger than a warren single). you’re really lucky to have one though because bay state is super hard to get into. also, were you admitted into the trustees scholar program? if so then it makes sense your in that particular specialty housing.

I am not in the program, nor did I ask for specialty housing…
But I had asked for a brownstone on the housing survey though. I just assumed that since I’m in SMG they would put me in the management house

I’m in the Trustee Scholar’s house too. I’m not in the program either, so I guess they just put people where they had space left.

I’m in SMG as well.
