So, is anyone in the same boat as me? I am a permanent resident who has lived in CA for around 7 years. I have never been out of state except Vegas and have always come back to CA including after out-of-country vacation for at most 1 month. I Graduated from CA middle school and high school and paid taxes after getting my first job. My parents too pay taxes as a CA resident.

But, for some reasons, Cal still asked me to provide them with more documents such as photocopies of my and my parents passport (all pages), tax return, hs transcript, and bla bla. Unfortunately, I cannot provide them with my dad's passport cause he was out of the country. I am just wondering how much longer is this process is going to take? Is there anyone who has been classified as a resident after being in this kind of situation?

It seems like some sort of a mix-up, because going by your info, you're definitely supposed to be classified as a resident. Maybe you should call them.

i did and they requested my parent's tax return... because they made a typo saying that they needed my tax return. so i gave them both. even if i call them, what do u think i should say to them? should i ask them why they need to scrutinize my residency status?

AdamantineX, I was asked to provide supporting documentation as well. I submitted all y documents in person to the Office of the Registrar on July 9th. It has been seventeen days and my status has changed yet.

I did send two e-mails to the Residency Officer Evaluator and still no answer.

I wonder why my classification is taking so long.

Anyone in the same situation?

It just takes a while. I sent my documentation in like early June or so. I only received my residency confirmation yesterday. And my fees aren't changed yet either. They seem to be taking a long time evaluating and changing everything. Just wait for it.

You can check your status on BearFacts Personal Profile. Mine just changed to Resident today.

Thanks Sputnik for the information

yea it is taking a looooooong time. i called them actually and this one guy told me briefly about the process. basically all the documents are scattered around within one or may be several departments. so my guess from this is that it takes more than one person to decide our classifications. regardless, it is still a long process and it has been almost 2 months for me and they havent yet heard anything from them.
