anyone receive this statetement (STEP 6) after they submit the SIR?
I have been in CA for at least a decade, why are they asking me this question?

Bump!
(chara. limit)

i too received the indeterminate status after answer almost a hundred stupid questions.....urgh. i have been in CA for 7+ years and theyre telling me to send in more documents. im a little bit annoyed, but i'll just go with the procedure. if anything, i can always use exemption #9 on the exemption list for nonresidents.

GRADUATE OF CALIFORNIA PUBLIC HIGHSCHOOL

peace.

I have gotten this too. But they will email you soon saying they have corrected your Statement of Legal Residence Responses. It appears to me that the website script might have been faultered in some manner. Until someone actually looks at it and verifies/corrects it, you won't know your real status. But don't worry about it if you answered all questions truthfully, they will let you know very soon. gluck

I got this too and it's so dumb! They changed me to NON-RESIDENT and gave me 10 days to prove my residency, but they won't help me. Every time I've tried calling the deputy resident she's too busy to talk. Every time I've emailed her she's been very rude and said that she'll email me, not for me to email her.

what? I thought that all you need is to answers all five pages then everything will be verify automatically?
So you have to wait 10 days?
What do you think that we answered on the Statement of Legal Residence that they need us to provide document?
The only thing I remember is that I put my parents' and myself as a non-citizens!!!

Well I said that my father is an Oregon resident AND I attended Harvard one summer and a college in Oregon for a class one summer (eventhough I registered as a CA resident for both of those)

hoopjumper, so you only need to send in what they tell you right?

hoopjumper, what documents you need to forward, and how long you receive the reply that your resident status is OK ?

haleyhales, so how you prove your resident status then, and when the resident deputy will send you the email ?

in17, you don't need to submit things to prove ?

i ask these questions because i come across the same situation, my CA residency stauts is changed to non-resident in the checklist after being indeterminate for nearly 10 days. i was required to send the copies of resident alien card and i sent it already, and also i quoted that i am eligible for exemption from non-resident tuition for one requirement - Dependent Child of a CA resident parent.

But after so many days i didn't receive any reply or e-mail. i feel worry, what should i do ?

Don't worry. From the looks of it, they probably have so much to process right now...

I'm not sure how to prove I am a resident. I asked the schools to send documents but they said the only thing they could think of sending are my transcripts from when I went there. The problem is, that's exactly what the lady told me NOT to send to UCSD - so I'm stuck waiting to hear back from her or someone (but I don't see that happening...)

still no reply, and no change for my NON-RESIDENT status in the 'checklist", i am really worry. what should i do, call the office or send email again as a reminder ?

simsangwon88, how long it takes for getting the reply and change ?

hoopjumper, any reply already ?

haleyhales, proof submitted ?

sheep99, so on your residency status it says "non-resident"
On my it says "INDETERMINATE"

In17,

yes, "INDETERMINATE" first and changed to "NON-RESIDENT" after one week, then I sent in the information requested and later also email them that I am eligible for exemption from Non-resident tuition as mentioned in thread #9, yet no reply until then and so I am really very very worried.

I can't afford the non-resident tuition, what can i do ? UCSD is my dream school.

i heard its complicated when your parents or you aren't citizens...

sheep99, you only made a copy of your own resident alien card right?

In17, yes, when i finished the sir and slr submission, they requested me to submit copy of my resident alient card only.

anyone encountered similar situation, and what is the result ? should i call the office, or wait for reply (may not have ? ), or lodge a formal appeal ?

don't know what to do.

sheep99, what nationality are you?

In17, foreigner immigrating to california two years ago with a resident alien card, not yet eligible to apply for us citizenship.

I got an email today from the registrar office saying that my status has been chnaged to resident status!!! What a relief
