Residency classification

I can't believe how much time the people at the office of the registrar are taking just to classify residency to people. It has been almost 8 weeks and I still have not yet received my CA classification. Is anyone in the same boat as me?

It should say on bear facts. On the personal tab under personal profile it has all your info and it should say California resident. The will not tell you if you are a resident under the SLR tab.

yea i know but it still says SLR submitted awaiting evaluation. They requested for more documents and I already sent it to them. Thing is that it takes them wayyyyyyyyyyyyy tooo lonnnnnnnng.

Well if you sent papers in then it would definitely last longer and mine is not waiting evaluation. You should cut the fat and just call them and be like "hey I don’t want to be charged $20,000 so tell me what's taking so long."

The UC system is congested like a sick old man and takes forever on literally everything. Take my example, I took the AWPE back in May and have yet to receive the results by mail. I had to call them to find out if I passed or else I would have to sign up for CWP. No surprise I passed but it took a lot of calls until I found out my results

u should definitely call them. It's not normal because the due date is coming up. They should have the classification ready 2 weeks before the deadline.

For me, I submitted the SLR on time, but on bearfact, it said I have not submitted it. So I went to the office (lucky I live in oakland!!!) in the mid july and get it fix. I received classification on 8/1

I am in a similar situation as you friend, my slr is being evaluated as well still ( though I haven't been asked for additional info).

I had called them a couple of days ago & I was told that if I consider myself a resident then I should just pay the resident fees...uhhh that doesn't make any sense if my bill is asking for more...

Please share if you call because I don't think this person knew what they where talking about

yea imma call them mebbe on monday or something. definitely before the summer is over

under my SLR tab it says

You have already submitted an SLR for this term.
You will be able to view your residence classification on BearFacts when available.

Does this mean I haven't been classified yet?

What due date!?

reg fee... as viromonkey said, pay for whatever u think u should....?!

this is so stupid =___= i went to high school in CA for 4 years and they can't just use this as a basis for declaring me as a CA resident? Im not a citizen, but my parents and i pay taxes in ca and i have a green card.

Wow the residency affairs unit so not organized..... I called them this morning and they called me back. I really am pleased with that. However, when i spoke to this girl, she told me that the only thing that they have received is my parents tax. When I got the request, they incorrectly requested for MY tax return and not my PARENTS. I called them before finding this out and they told me that they have received everything else that i have sent them and that the only thing that I need to send them is my parents tax return. So, I did that within days and waited....waited....waited.. Today I called, and they told me that they have only received my parents' tax return and not the other things that i sent them. This is so annoying. It appears to me that they have somehow misplaced my documents. All of you who still have their SLR evaluated please call them ASAP because you dont want to wait and to find out later that something like this happen.

This is unique to Cal, other campuses are much better by contrast.
Cal has the most incompetent, bureaucratic, and customer hostile administration among all the colleges, IMHO.

btw, we get grace period of 3 weeks right? so aug 15th is not really the due date.

that's what I have heard, though I wouldn't want to test it

the due date for what?!

CARS bills list charges as due on the 15th of each month. Initial payments for Fall 08 are listed as due August 15.

There have been various mentions on this board that payment is not considered late until some later date - perhaps 3 weeks 'grace'.

However, the 'back of the bill' list of conditions claims differently. Read this then search the board for other comments before deciding to risk a late payment.

Billing and Payment Services for Students: e-Bill Back of Bill

It may be that there is grace for payments from financial aid and other university administered sources, but how that translates to personal payments is ambiguous, in my view at least.
