My daughter attends a performing arts high school and is passionate about the arts. We are hesitant about a BFA because she wants her college experience to also include other studies. We were looking at the BFA at U Michigan since it’s part of a large university and there is the possibility of double majoring, but that is a highly competitive program and may not be for her anyway. We then stumbled across the Residential College there and it sounds like a great marriage between arts and academics. Can anyone tell about theater opportunities there? I have concerns that at a school with a strong BFA, it is not easy to get a rich theater experience if you’re not in that BFA program. Thanks for your help!
You should direct your questions to the University of Michigan general forum found under the “Colleges and Universities” heading. Coincidentally another poster just asked a similar question there about the RC and there is already an open discussion. I have no experience with the RC, but no a little about the BFA Theatre program. I have known of a couple of students who were able to double major - one with Economics, a couple with Communications.
Thanks for the tip!
